Article L. 441-1 (former Article L. 213-1) of the Consumer Code does not mention price as one the elements to which the deception may relate. The principle of strict interpretation of criminal law thus precludes, in principle, the courts from sanctioning a defendant for deception as to the price or value of the goods.
