Only defects inherent in the thing may be called latent defects within the meaning of Article 1641 of the Civil Code. Although the defect of the thing can be traced back to an intervention following its factory exit, it is often caused, according to case law, by a manufacturing or structural defect or by abnormal wear and tear.
