A patent may be granted to a natural or legal person, whether French or foreign, under certain conditions (Art. L. 611-1, para. 3, IP Code). Only a natural or legal person can be granted inventor status, with the exception of an artificial intelligence system , which has no legal personality and therefore no assets of its own.
