The objective of free movement of judgments within the Union implies that a judgment issued by the court having jurisdiction in a Member State may be recognized and enforced in another Member State. Mutual trust in justice in the Union thus justifies judgments being recognized automatically (Regulation No 1215/2012, recital 26).
